[311] "Married a Protestant", apparently child born "too soon" as well. "Less said the better" attitude on part of Catholic relatives. Husband is said to have died. Seems to have been estranged from family, but name Ruth (along with name "Ann", James Eatough's mother's name) repeated in later generations. Not certain she is the Ruth Parkinson who is in 1881 census but other data, except for claimed birthplace in Broughton, seems consistent.

[309] 1901 census says she was born "Broughton Nr Preston". 1881 just says Broughton. She appears, however, to be the same Ruth Eatough who was sister to James.
