[968] 1854 date is approximate birth of son Galviston CARPENTER in 1880 census, which lists no Crate. Galviston may be the real name of the man the family knew as Crate.

[685] Her tombstone transcribed as "Sarah L."; children's say "Sarah E. Dunn", but this might also be for Sarah Eaton Dunn. IGI entry, unconfirmed, gives Sarah Elvenia Eaton but has dates too low. Also Sarah E. Dunn in 1900 Murray Co. census. "Sarrah" in 1910 Tift County census. Listed as 29 in 1880 census; my September 1849 date is almost certainly from 1900/1910 census, though not so entered here. IGI says born about 1881, however, which is obviously wrong as same source gives 1890 as birthdate of her son.

[1304] Difference in age between Elizabeth Ann and following children may mean they are by second wife, Helen, while the first three children are by Ann. Censuses betwen 1881 and 1901 have not been seen and there may be some children not listed here.

[769] By Douglas Wikle's account, one daughter of Peter married a Smyth, and HER daughter married a Dalrymple. Others remembered it that a daughter of Peter married a Dalrymple. I have followed the earlier version here.
[2157] Rutherford County Marriage Bond gives 1791 (See source note); 1791 may be more correct. This from Rutherford County history. Note however that an October 1791 marriage date would make the birth of first child in March 1792 somewhat awkward, which could account for shift in listed marriage date.
